“Luverne is a city located in Rock County, Minnesota. According to the 2020 census, the population of Luverne is 4,946. The city’s motto is “Love the Life” which reflects the community’s appreciation for the quality of life that Luverne offers.
Luverne is a small town with a big heart. The city has a strong sense of community and is known for its friendly residents and welcoming atmosphere. The area offers a variety of recreational activities for residents to enjoy such as hiking, biking, fishing, and camping. The city also has several parks and playgrounds for children to play.”
Economy: Agriculture is the foundation of the local economy. Local farmers produce corn, soybeans, and livestock. Other major employers include Luverne Public Schools, Sanford Medical Center, and Minnesota Veterans Home. There are 12 churches in and around Luverne.
Recreation: Luverne has 13 parks, a swimming pond, an aquatics and fitness center, and 15 miles of bike trails. Just north of Luverne is Blue Mounds State Park, which has a bison herd and offers activities like hiking, camping, rock climbing, and biking. The local geography is prairie and relatively flat elevation.
Region: Luverne is in Rock County. The nearest large city is Sioux Falls, SD, about 30 miles to the west. The Sioux Falls metro area has a population of about 250,000. Worthington, MN is 30 miles east of Luverne, with a population of 14,000.
